Lynette Fulton
To relieve stress of working as a RN in Emergency at a Level One Trauma Center, Lynette started taking quilting and sewing classes at a community college which lead to a degree in Fashion Design.
Lynette began teaching multiple quilting classes at a local quilt shop for 17 years. Her area of expertise was machine quilting on domestic machines and quilting designs. She was also a Bernina Educator for 7 years teaching Mastery classes for new owners and hosted a monthly Bernina Club. Lynette traveled throughout Southern CA to lecture at quilt guilds and teach various quilting workshops.
In 1999, Lynette had 2 quilts juried into ROAD to California. “Special Stars” at 102″ long was awarded Best Large Traditional Quilt. It went on to raise over $5,000 for a children’s charity in honor of a nephew born with a chromosome deformity. Her second quilt, “California Snowflake” was awarded Best Quilt From First Time Entrant. It was also published in the book, Exploring Machine Trapunto by Hari Walner.
It wasn’t until Lynette purchased a HQ Sixteen® stationary machine that she enjoyed the freedom and creativity that the huge throat space allowed the quilting designs and feathers to flow from.
Retirement from a long nursing career in January 2020 enabled Lynette to work for fun at a quilt store. After attending a Handi Quilter Educational Event, she purchased a HQ Forte® with ProStitcher® which she enjoys using to finish her quilt tops and quilt for friends and charitable causes.
Lynette lives with her husband Richard, in San Diego, California.Information from www.handiquilter.com
