Classes-March 2018

SKILLBUILDERS $50 start up
This year our Skillbuilder quilt is a beautiful sampler of applique blocks. Start up fee includes pattern and all background fabrics. When you bring back your completed block, the following month’s block is free. ($5 for late blocks). Discount available on Applique class for those needing more intensive instruction before getting started.

Third Saturday of every month, 10am

Learn to quilt on our Handi Quilter long arm quilting machines and get those quilt tops finished in no time! Call for time slot availability.

We have worked through 100 blocks and have made several quilts, but there are more 6 ½” blocks to be made.  Yes, Pat and Jane are publishing the sequel, Splendid Sampler II. We had so much fun with Splendid Sampler I, we decided to continue. Please feel free to join us on July 7 for Splendid Saturday. You can make blocks from either book I or book II. We will meet on the first Saturday of every month at 10:30 to discuss and plan our block making strategy.

By the way you will be able to get Splendid Sampler II patterns online starting June 14.  The book will be published in the fall and we will pick up where we left off after publication.

If you are interested please sign up on our Splendid Saturday List and order your book from us today.

KID’S QUILTING $65 plus kit
Ages 8 and up can learn to quilt! Class will teach the basics as the kids make a 9-patch bed runner quilt.
3 sessions
Wednesdays, June 13, 20, 27, 9:30-12:30

BLUEBIRD GO GREEN PROJECT $25/class or $40 for both

Upcycle your plastic shopping bags! This is a one or two Saturday summer class. Because of power cords and space it’s limited to 5 students.
First meeting: melting the bags! Grocery bags are fine, but the really good ones are the heavier ones like Macys Target, Ulta, World Market, etc. Color and design just add to the creative melting process.
You will need to bring your own “paper” scissors, dull rotary cutter, ironing board, iron, and a good supply of plastic bags. (shop ironing boards and irons will not be available for this class)
Saturday, June 16, 1-4pm
Second meeting: make an upcycled tote! Bring your melted strata, dull rotary cutter, sewing machine, jeans needles, and colorful thread for a day of fun! Scraps of canvas, denim, or upholstery fabric are good for enhancements.
Saturday, July 21, 10am-2pm

DYEING WITH RESISTS $50, includes dyes and resists
Love batiks? Come make your own with dyes and resists! Non toxic resists used from the kitchen or things you have in your home. First session is using resists, second session is the dyeing.

Wednesday-Thursday July 11 (1-4pm)-July 12 (9:30am-1pm)
